21st Century Vox
Learning to sing for a new generation
Available only through Vocal Authority, a series of new vocal exercises for a new generation of singers.
Together with his wife Lisa, herself a renowned session singer and vocal coach, David Laudat has devised a singing workout based on the styles of music that we listen to now, in 2006.
David says:
“Although the basic techniques of singing are the same whether you sing R & B or opera, the personal taste of the people who listen to these different styles is very different. This doesn’t seem to be reflected in the choice of vocal practice material available. I’m so bored of using piano scales to warm up with, and if I feel like that, I can only imagine how uninspiring this stuff is to singers half my age.
We decided that if we didn’t like what was out there, the answer was to create our own CD. So we did.
Using beats that you could hear if you turned on MTV right now, we have created a series of exercises to help you improve your control, your range, your tuning and your vocal dexterity, without a boring piano or ticking metronome to be heard.”
